The Alabama Self-Insured Worker’s Compensation Fund is dedicated to customer service. Together, with our service provider, we are able to offer our members the following services:

Loss Control Services

The first line of savings is the prevention of injuries in the work environment. Employer’s Claim Management, Inc. (ECMI), a service provider to ASIWCF members, works to encourage and enhance a member’s safety efforts through its Technical Resource Department.  On-site risk visits are conducted at a member’s request and as determined by risk and experience analysis.

Claim Management

ECMI provides a staff of 51 to assist in managing a claim to a successful conclusion. Each claim is assigned to an experienced claim examiner who works closely with the injured worker, the medical care provider, and the employer to bring about a favorable resolution. A case management team with registered nurses is active in managing severe injuries.

Participation in AlaMed, the state’s largest and most cost effective worker’s compensation preferred provider’s organization (PPO), helps to control medical costs. State of the art claim management software processes claims promptly and automatically pays the lower of billed charges, PPO schedule, or state fee schedule.

Educational Services

Members receive educational services on their ASIWCF worker’s compensation program from several sources. Technical Resource Representatives conduct various training programs at the member’s place of business. These training programs include topics such as Accident Investigations, Forklift Training and Supervisor Training. Account Coordinators also work with members on an individual basis to provide training in the areas of claim reporting and processing procedures.

The claim and loss control departments conduct workshops each year that cover current worker’s compensation issues along with claim and loss control techniques. Finally, members have access to an extensive video and safety material library, which is provided as part of their complete worker’s compensation plan.
